Markets or traditionally addressing it as Bazaar that brings out the actual feel has always carried a special place in everyone’s heart,bazaar gives life to a place or city. and tradition, these traditional markets or bazaars add to the beauty of a place. While India being a country of heritage, history and tradition, these traditional markets adds to the beauty of a place. The hustle and bustle is the soul of the city. 

Time and again bazaar gives us those aesthetic and vintage vibes that no online shopping or shopping malls can ever give. To cherish the beauty and significance of the market, here are few most famous markets located across India that you should visit at least once in your lifetime! 

1.Chandni Chowk, Delhi

Well, who is not aware of the most famous Chandni Chowk? That Chandni Chowk which is always mentioned in Hindi Songs and movies surely has a vibe that appeals to so many people. This 17th century old market is wholesome, it has numerous things present like ; traditional clothes, perfumes, bangles, antique pieces and of course the mouth watery delicacy, and this place  never misses a chance to appeal to the people, it’s beautiful in its own way. The old shops, the pile of electric wires hanging was established by the Mughal Emperor,Jahangir and his daughter Jahanara. 2.New Market, Kolkata 

Contradicting the name this market was found in the year 1874, being historic. This ancient market was earlier known as Sir Stuart Hogg Market located on Lindsay Street. Back in the years this market was solely open for Calcutta’s British Residents but now it has around 2000 stores. The market is a place for many things like clothes, food, leather bags, electronics, vegetables, flowers and other food items as well.

3.Floating Vegetable Market, Srinagar

Floating Vegetable Market, sounds mind blowing isn’t it?  Well, if you have a thing for boats then this market would turn out to be your favourite vegetable market, making vegetable shopping fun. This market is present in the famous Dal Lake of Srinagar, proving it all again why this place is breathtaking. The timings of this market is from morning 5 am to 7 am daily. The sellers come to gather on the popular kashmiri boats often called as Shikara. The items being sold here are fruits, vegetables, wood carvings and saffron too. This has gathered a massive attention of tourists and is a must visit place already because of its uniqueness.

4.Ima Keithel, Imphal 

Located in Imphal the capital city of Manipur, this market is completely run by women which is also a reason why it is famous as Mother’s Market . This market is of the 16th century and items being sold here are many like utensils, local products, handicrafts and so much more.

5. Mall Road, Shimla

Mall Road is already very famous which also has valid reasons. It has a street which is full of shops, cafes, clubs, banks etc. This place is always busy, it is a centre of attraction for tourists. The shops of Mall Road especially are famous for its handicraft items and woolen clothes. If you are in Shimla then you should definitely be here to celebrate along with your friends or family.

 6.Meena Bazaar,Delhi

Just like Chandi Chowk, Meena Bazaar has always been famous, it’s the first covered market of India.  Meena Bazar though is believed to be a part of Chandni Chowk but it holds a specific importance, this market being 300 years old has its own vibe.  It is situated near the Red Fort. With jewelry and everything available, this place attracts people a lot.

7.Jew Town, Kochi

Jew Town is full of history, located in the Mattancherry area of Kochi, is of the 16th century. The buildings here give all the Portuguese vibes as they are built in colonial-era Portuguese-style. As the shopkeepers are descendants of Jews, they know a lot about that place and can act as local guides to the tourists with so much information to share. The narrow streets of the Jew market has shops that sell things like ; perfume, spices, jewellery, antique pieces, and handicrafts.

8.Commercial Street, Bangalore

9.Devaraja Market, Mysore  

Famous for its hustling, this market is located central Sayyaji Rao Road. This market is of the Tipu Sultan times,which got further expanded by Chamaraja Wodeyar IX in the late 1800s. This market is a great place for a collection of things like, fruits flowers, garlands, turmeric, incense, spices, sindoor, green betel leaves in each specific portion of the market.

10.Laad Bazaar, Hyderabad

Located beside the famous CharMinar, this Bazaar doesn’t permit vehicle entrance because of being narrow. This place offers everything from Jewellery to silverware but is much popular for its stone studded and glass bangles, it also is famous for pearl jewelry. Since it’s beside the Char Minar, it draws the attention of a lot of tourists.
