Diwali is a festival of lights, pure joy and positivity. The lights bring the brightness and prosperity into our lives. The lights used in the decoration of our homes are believed to attract good vibes, good health, happiness and positivity. There is a good vibe in our homes during Diwali because of the ambience, the decoration, the lanterns.

With Diwali approaching, the preparations have been going on in full swing. Shopping for clothes, making celebratory sweets and savories, hanging lights, putting up decorations, etc. are keeping everyone busy. Diwali is a festival of light and especially decorations. Making our homes look the best is something everyone loves to do and definitely the festival of Diwali gives us a chance to decorate and show our creativity by implementing innovative ideas. 

You can decorate your homes in different ways according to the home architecture, walls, wall color, texture, etc. Mixing lights of different colors and matching curtains, sofa covers is something that we usually do but we can add something more and change this to be more creative in order to give a different touch to our homes this Diwali.  You can craft many such things, that can even save you from stepping out to buy decorative items and hence saving money and time.

Here are a few things enlisted which would help you to decorate your homes this Diwali  and change the ambience and bring joy to your homes.

1. Hula hoop Chandeliers. 

Chandeliers never fail to give a royal touch, they can be fixed anywhere in the hall, dining hall, on the porch, balcony or at the entrance. Take a hula hoop, attach string lights on it that’s all, very easy yet giving full festive touch. You can even stick that on a wall.

2. Jar lights 

If you want to give your home a classy yet quirky look then definitely go for Jar lights. Jar lights would act as night lamps even after Diwali. For this you just need some mason jars or any other glass jars, put the light strings of a single color or different colors and place them on the dining table, or centre table, or even on top of your lamp table, just switch off the lights and see it’s glow.

3. Diyas 

Diwali is incomplete without diyas. Diyas add to the beauty of Diwali festival, from arranging diyas on the door steps to terrace boundaries, there are various ways in which they can add to the festive vibe.

4. Tree lights 

So many of us have the plants and trees in the garden, terrace garden and even inside our homes. All we can do is decorate them with lights of any color. This might look like a Christmas idea but once you do it this would enhance the look of the whole garden.

5. Bottle lights 

If you don’t have many jars at home or you don’t want to put lights in a jar you can use bottles instead. You can use any transparent bottles and place bulbs of different colors into it. You can either place them on the sides of the staircase or hang them in your garden in an alignment or place them together in your living room at one place.

6. Floating Candles 

Candles can be placed in bowls and some of them also release good essence making the ambience very soothing. The bowls in a group can be placed together on a center table with flower petals around to enhance the beauty of it.

7. Bangle Lampshades 

The best use of Bangle is to make Bangle lampshades. All you need is to arrange the bangles and place a candle or diya in it . The color and glitters of bangles would make the whole lampshade beautiful.

8. Cover your flower pots with lights 

If you have big flower pots at your home and you don’t know how to decorate them, all you can do is cover the whole pot from the string lights of different colors.

9. Toran and Wall Hangings

Torans have been used to decorate the front portion of the gates ever since and it’s still one of the traditional ways of decorating. You can fix it at your main door/entrance for a traditional touch to your homes.

10. Unique name plates 

You can use the round wall hangings and convert it into something very unique. Take the round thing off the wall hanging, decorate it from one side using flowers and then write your name on thermocol or wooden pieces and attach lights on it. Tada! Your personalized DIY name plate is ready. This would catch attention of guests coming to visit you.

11. Wooden hanging photo display picture frame collage. 

This wooden hanging photo display picture has LED lights fixed into it and this is a perfect thing to fix in your bedroom. You can fix all your favourite pictures which would glow with the LED lights attached to it. Wooden support makes it stronger and long lasting.

You can pick up any one of these ideas and give your homes a lavish and attractive look. Don’t forget to buy things only from local stores, buy diyas from road side vendors and make this Diwali a celebrating one in actual means during these hard times for them as well.
